A TALE OF TWO CITIES

Genesis 11:4, Hebrews 11:10&16

This message is the PART 2 of LIFE CURRENCY NUMBER 6, WISDOM.

In that message I said I was going to teach about two kinds of wisdom, Earthly wisdom and there is the wisdom that comes from above, Godly wisdom, James 3:13-18.

Wisdom is a builder! The bible says By Wisdom is a house built....Proverbs 24:3

To build anything that is obvious for people to see, you need wisdom. Hence, the title; a tale of two cities.

In the building of these two cities as seen from our anchor scripture wisdom was engaged.

But the kind of wisdom engaged in building these two cities were different. As such, the effect of what was built was not the same for both.

One city is full of strife, envy, confusion and all kind of evil work. But the other city is marked by peace, quietness and calmness, joy, mercy and good fruits.

The bible says where earthly or sensual wisdom is, there is strife, envying confusion and all kinds of evil work, James 3:15&16.

But concerning Godly wisdom, the bible says, "And the work of righteousness shall be peace and the effect of righteousness quietness amd assurance forever, Isaiah 32:17.

Many times we are concerned about results much more than how the result is gotten because we live in a world where men wants to see proof.

Results is "the city". How it was built, is "the wisdom" The bible mentioned two cities.

The first one is the City of Babel(Babylon) built by earthly wisdom by the descendants of Cain, Genesis 4:17,Genesis 11:4&5 and the second is the City of Salem called the City of Righteousness(Isaiah 1:26), built with Godly wisdom by the descendants of Seth, Genesis 4:26, 14:18.

At every point in time, you are building something; whether you are conscious of it or not.

But much more important than the fact that you are building something at every point in time, is the wisdom with which you are building it.

It is the wisdom you are using to build that will give name to what you are building and also determine the kinds if things that will be seen happening there.

It is no longer news that men can build things without God. The bible says, "And now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do", Genesis 11:6.

So we see by power of earthly wisdom and human imagination men have accomplished great feats without acknowledging God.

But much more than what men have built is the consequence of what men has built.

By what wisdom are you buiding your life, your career, your business, your marriage, your children, your ministry, your church and organization?

The wisdom you have been using to build will be seen in the kind of effects around your life, your ministry, your business, marriage, career e.t.c.

Wordly wisdom may bring result faster but the consequences are devastating! Godly wisdom may seem slow but the effect is that it will cause you to lie down in safety and nothing shall make you afraid, Leviticus 26;6.

The bible says there is a way that seemeth right to man but the end there of is destruction, Proverbs 16:25.

If you are a student of the bible, you will know that God is more concerned about the end of a thing than the beginning, Ecclesiates 7:8.

The truth and the real nature of a thing or situation is most correctly seen at the end not in the beginning.

The bible says mark the righteous the end of that man is peace, Psalm 37:37. But not so the wicked, they are like a troubled sea whose waters cast up mire and dirt, Isaiah 57:20.

I tell you the truth, when you follow godly wiasdom to build anything, you will look foolish in the beginning; people will mock you, but don't worry, the end of a thing is better than the beginning there of.

The difference between the man doing it fast and the man doing it right is seen at the end not in the begunning.

That is when we will really know who has been wise and who truly has been foolish.

The bible says an high way shall be there and a way and it shall be called the way of holiness, the unclean shall not pass over it but it shall be for those the wayfaring men, though fools shall not err therein, Isaiah 35:8.

I love that scripture so much, it says the warfaring man though looks like a fool to many, cannot miss his way following that road.

It says in the next verse, that no lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up there but the redeemed of the lord shall walk there.

What it is saying is that nothing that make people afraid shall be in that city. It is Salem, the City of Peace, the City of Righteousness, the City of God!

The Lord is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved, the Lord will help her and that right early, Psalm 46:5.

May be you are reading this and you have been following the way of God and building by His wisdom; but it seems no result is on the horizon and it is like the journey is just too slow.

The bible says long before there were any king in Israel, kings have been reigning in Edom, 1Chronicles 1:43.

Let that scripture comfort you, don't be moved by the prosperity of the wicked whose end is destruction!

We all know the end of Israel, it was life and peace! We know the end of Edom too, destruction, Obadiah 1:18-21.

We know Him that says over Edom I will cast out my shoe, Psalm 60: 6-8.

You may even be contemplating turning aside completely or trying to mix some wordly wisdom with godly wisdom to make things happen faster.

Please don't do it! I want you to know there is a co5ty God has prepared for those that follow Him, wait for Him and walk in His ways, Hebrews 11:16, Isaiah 64:4.

Don't be mindful of the city you are leaving behind or have left behind! Don't look back!

For God is not ashamed to be called your father and He has prepared a city for you. A city whose architect and builder is God Himself.

God always have a way of eacape for His own people no matter how bad things get upon the earth.

The reason why you are not seeing it is because you are encumbered with the ways of the world, running helter skelter like they do in the world;

instead of settling down with The Word to show you the way of escape God has provided for you, 1Corinthians 10:13.

The bible says a consumption has been decreed upon the earth, but it will overflow with righteousness, Isaiah 10:22&23.

Do you know what that means? It means right in the midst of that consumption, God has provided a way of escape for His own people, the remnant!

But it takes staying with Him and Him opening your eyes before you can see that way of escape.

I have experienced it too many times to know it is real, it has never failed for once. I know what I am saying and I know it is very true!

Cheap victories, hidden wisdom, that God has ordained for our rising in the midst of a crooked, perverse and wicked world! 1Corinthians 2:6-9.

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
