RE-DEFINING THE CONCEPT OF THE WILL OF GOD IN MARRIAGE

Malachi 2:15

The things that makes a marriage work is much more than whether the person is the will of God for you or not.

There are people that it is the will of God for them to marry each other, yet their marriage didn't work.

That something is the will of God does not mean it will automatically work if the two parties involved are not ready to stay within the confine of the will of God and work to make the will of God work for them.

The essence of knowing the will of God either in marriage or anythibg at all; is not so that you won't have to work to make things work.

It is so that you can know that God is involved and that knowledge can make you stay at it and work at it to make it successful because you know it is the will of God.

God's purpose for Abraham was to have a seed through which salvation for mankind would later come, it wasn't just about having a child but having a certain kind of child, Romans 9:7.

That something is the will of God is not a licence for irresponsibility. It does not mean things will work out themselves on their own.

There must be men to work the will of God for the will of God to be executed on earth

And that two people are having a great marriage does not mean they are in the will of God.

The will of God is rooted in His purposes and it is when two people that are willing to fulfil Gods purpose for thier lives come together that they can birth His purposes on earth.

Some of us only found out about God and His purposes after we got married. We were not even sure whether the person we married was the will of God for us, we just married.

Now we are already married; does it necessarily mean we are not in the will of God? No!

What we are supposed to do is to start finding His purpose for our lives and marriage right from that stand point of marrying in ignorance and begin to align our lives and marriage to His purpose, Acts 17:30.

We need not separate or divorce because we are not sure or because we are just knowing.

Understanding this will give you a whole new perspective and a paradigm shift about this concept of the will of God and His purposes.

As far as marriage is concerned staying in the will of God is rooted in the honour and respect that both has for God, His purposes, each other and the ordinace of marriage.

The will of God is connected to His purpose.

You can marry outside of the will of God and have a sweet marriage, it is just that it will not fulfil the purposes of God.

The godly seed that God is seeking will not come from that kind of union. The purposes of God will not be birthed upon the earth intentionally but that does not mean the two of you will not be happy together.

That someone is the will of God, does not mean the person will be perfect. Knowing that the person is the will of God is what will make you stay put with the person until the purposes of God are birthed in that union.

So asking God to reveal His will to you in marriage is not a guarantee for a hitch free marriage.

It doesn't even mean the person will have a perfect and flawless character.

Gods will is connected to His purposes, having this understanding will help you redefine the concept of the will of God in marriage.

Such that when you say I am looking for the will of God in marriage you will mean that you are looking for that person with whom you can fulfil Gods purposes together on earth for God to have a godly seed.

Not just that you mean someone you can cohabit together in the same house peacefully or successful without beating each other or inhibiting the progress of each other in life.

You don't need the will of God to live together successfully with a person in the same house, once your temperament matches and you love and understand each other and can tolerate each other; you will live together successfully and even do great things together but they may not necessarily be things that are the purposes of God for the two of you.

There are people that are not bornagain but have great marriages. Some of them are our parents and loved ones.

They didn't even know what is the will of God before they got married, yet they had a very successful marriage but they may not necessarily have fulfilled God's purposes for their lives on earth.

This is where finding the purpose of God for your life comes first before looking for the will of God in marriage, whether you are a man or a woman.

Your first point of call is a call into intimacy with the Holy Spirit not with a brother or sister. Adam knew God first intimately before He ever met Eve.

Your first assignment is not to look for husband or wife material. Your first assignment is to stay with God until you find the reason why He created you and sent you to earth.

Unfortunately, many believers are still missing it, putting the cart before the horse.

Until you have found the purpose of God for your life, you don't know who really will fit into that purpose to help you birth that purpose on earth.

If you have an evangelistic call with missions in view, a sister that wants to be a career person and literarilly married to her career may not love the idea of rural rugged evangelism and oppose it vehemently.

You can live with that person and have a successful marriage but you won't birth the purposes of God on earth.

You may end up becoming an academician like she is, but never a rugged evangelist that is the purpose of God for you.

So knowing the will of God in marriage is so that you can fulfil His puposes together with your spouse on earth not just so that you can live happily together ever after.

There are many happy marriages that are just marking time but never fulfilling any purposes for God on earth.

Yet you can see a couple tearing at each other 5years ago and you were almost concluding then that the sister married outside the will of God.

But today, the two of them are moving round the world spreading tye Gospel of the kingdom and advancing God's kingdom; and the whole thing just messed up your theology.

Will you now say that brother is still the will of God for the sister or not?

That person that is willing to fulfil the purposes of God with you in marriage is the will of God for you.

With this definition, purpose come before will, and that means it is possible for that will of God not to be one person in particular(I will explain in detail in the course of this teaching).

It is anyone that is ready to say yes to His will to make sure that His purposes on earth are birthed and that person may not be perfect.

God's will is determined by His purposes, His will does not determine His purposes because His will can be rejected but His purposes will always stand.

PRAYER: LORD DRAW ME INTO INTIMACY AND REVEAL TO ME YOUR PURPOSE FOR MY LIFE. GIVE ME A MARRIAGE AND A HOME THST WILL BIRTH YOUR PURPOSES ON EARTH.

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
