ABUSE OF FAITH
PART 2
Hebrews 11:1&6
That God is a Spirit does not mean He is anti-scientific or anti-natural.
He is the one that made provision for all these things such that whether people believe in Him or not, love Him or not, have faith in Him or not, they can still tap into these physical facilities and natural wisdom and help themselves.
He made provision for all these things, that while men are growing spiritually, they can still access salvation physically or naturally through these means.
So, He gave us wisdom to build hospitals, make drugs, build houses, train doctors and engineers such that when people are sick regardless of whether they believe in God or not they can go there and get healed.
If you insist you won't use drugs when God has not specifically told you He will heal you SUPERNATURALLY, you may be endangering your life.
The battle is not between God and doctors or hospitals or science, the battle is between God and Satan.
While you are growing spiritually, don't die and don't abuse your faith by getting into presumption with God.
It is an abuse of faith to already have good cars or dresses that nothing is wrong with but because your friends just bought new cars or dresses, you too suddenly want a new one and you are using your faith to get one, it won't work.
You will be surprised at the kind of things people use their faith for!
Let your moderation be known unto all men (Phillipians 4:5) and be temperate in all things, 1Corinthians 9:25.
Because God is a God of faith doesn't mean he endorses ostentation and irresponsibility or sponsor one.
Before He will give any thing He weighs the prons and cons and has very good reasons behind everything He does.
He doesn't do anything for show off or to proof a point to anyone, not even His enemies.
There are things that are not best for us that God overlooks and not say anything about, but only allow us to fail honourably in them.
Sometimes, He even allows such things to suceed to encourage us because our love for Him and our simplicity of devotion to Him matters more to Him at that stage of our growth than that foolishness.
So, He allows us to have our way though they are not necessarily what He wants for us.
If God begins to rebuke that thing at that stage, it will do more harm than good. It will uproot both the tares and the wheat.
We will not have what we are asking for, but it will also affect our love for him and our simplicity of devotion to Him badly.
But because the latter is more precious, He allows the former be and leave it to be uprooted when we grow some more in Him.
When we are young God may condone those excesses that make faith look like foolishness just to encourage us to continue in the journey and not give up
But later He begins to show us how wrong those actions were.
The way God will bless a full time pastor is different from the way He will bless a full time business man.
He will be pouring his blessings by prospering his business such that he can afford anything he wants.
People may not necessarily be giving him lands, house or cars and other things like they give to the full time pastor, but he will always have enough to buy all those things by himself.
If he wants to use his faith to be like the pastor it is an abuse of faith. He will use his faith to get things bigger than what he can afford within his current means.
If the full time pastor also wants to use his faith to be like the business man, it will also be an abuse of faith.
This is some thing serious that we must all understand about faith.
The most important step in the equation of faith is to first know what God is saying about the issue (either from His Word or directly to you backed by His Word) and then apply your faith to it.
Get the proceeding Word of God on the issue first. This is what gives your faith substance, Hebrews 11:1.
For it to be faith, it must have substance and that substance is what God has said or is saying. Most importantly His proceeding Word, Matthew 4:4
PRAYER: FATHER, TEACH ME WHAT FAITH IS AND WHAT FAITH IS NOT AND HELP ME NOT TO ABUSE MY FAITH IN JESUS NAME.
SALVATION PRAYER
Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:
Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.
Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
PEACE
