BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE

Matthew 3:2, Matthew 4:17


Repentance as many know is not just limited to salvation it is a word that will keep occuring and surfacing from time to time in our walk with God.


To repent means to have a change of heart and attitide towards something that is wrong or not true. True repentance starts from the heart not mouth. 


Repentance is a thing of the heart and it takes place many times in the wilderness of life. 


This is because often times the wilderness produces a suitable emvironment needed for repentance, 


Isaiah 26:9b says, "When thy judgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness and Isaiah 30:16 says judgement shall dwell in tge wilderness and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. 


I brought these two scriptures to show us that judgement takes place in the wilderness of life and as such making the wilderness a place of repentance.


Repentance does not take place in comfortable and conducive environment. Jeremiah 48:11. It takes place in an environment that breaks you. 


This is why in our walk with God after salvation, the next place he leads us to is the wilderness as seen in the journey of Israel, from Egypt straight into the wilderness. 


The wilderness is a place of brokeness. Without God breaking us first we won't listen to what He has to say to us. 


We won't see reasons why we should listen. We will argue and fight. We will say we really don't need what He is saying because we are comfortable and life is treating us so well. 


We won't appreciate it because it doesn't look like what He is saying is applicable to us at that moment. 


The wilderness is where God uses situation and circumstances to humble us so that we can have a change of heart and attitude and as such He can exalt us in due season.


It is where God anoints our eyes with eye salve so that we can see clearly. It is where our gold is tested with fire so that we can be truly rich indeed, Revelations 3:18


The heat and thirst of the wilderness is not meant to kill us but break us so that repentance can take place. 


That was why John the Baptist had to remain in the wilderness. His was a wilderness ministry.


There are wilderness ministers that their work in the life of people is to bring them into a place of repentance. 


As God saves them, He will pass them through your hand and your ministry becomes effective in their lives. 


During that season of their lives, they must need you. 


As a minister we must understand this and remain in the wilderness to mid wife the destiny of people and lead them into genuine brokeness and repentance and not begin to long for the city kind of ministries. 


Every minister is great and relevant if we understand the scope of our ministry and we remain in it, 1Corinthians 7:20. 


When we do, God will send many across our ways whose stories will not be complete without us. 


Everyone that rejected the ministry of John the baptist perished and could not continue to be a part of the ministry of Jesus when he finally showed up. 


They missed a very important step in the journey, BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE! 


They sought the Baptism of the Spirit without first seeking the Baptism of Repentance and they could not attain unto it. 


Examples are the Pharisees and Saducees, they missed the pattern, Matthew 3:7&8.


There is a pattern for walking with God as seen from Scriptures, Jeremiah 6:16, Proverbs 22:28.


 One of such pattern is baptism of repentance first before the baptism of the Spirit. 


If you despise the first you can't have the second. You can see these pattetns in your life and know you are getting it right. 


God has a way of doing things which he called patterns. They are called ancient patterns and we are called to ask and seek for it, Jeremiah 6:16.


Until we build according to pattern the glory does not come, Exodus 40:33-35. 


May be you have been asking God  for power; what preceed power us the baptism of repentance. 


Begin to watch out for the forrunners ministry that God will begin to send across your way. 


These messangers wil not impart you with power so to say they have just one message; REPENT. 


They will begin to show you things in your life that has stoped power from coming and command you to repent from them.


 Because they are not preaching power, you may despise them but despising them is waving power bye bye and power waving you bye bye. 


For you, your own may be spiritual revival or business or career revival. The pattern is the same, REPENT! 


Until you repent thst revival will not come. 


So, your responsibilty is to start looking for the forerunners ministry who wull lead you to the place of repentance. 


For every level you desire to get to, whether in things pertaining to life or godliness, it is either something you are doing wrong or dont know or somerhing you need to add like patience that is making you not to access that level so the mrssage is stull the same REPENT! 


Repent from your haste and be patient. Repent from the way you see life, treat others, manage things, Repent from ignorance and get knowledge. 


The message of repentance is not a get born again message it is a salvation message that cut across every phase of your walk with God and of life as well. 


Repentance is what leads to true salvation whether physical or spiritual salvation.


What do you have to repent from? Ask the Lord to show you.


SALVATION PRAYER


Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:


 Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour. 


Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

CHANGE FOCUS One major winning strategy is to keep your focus on what God is doing and not on what God is yet to do.  The devil is very adept at making people focus their attention either on what he is doing in their lives or on what God is not doing for them  This is the reason for sadness and depression.
