THE TRAVAIL

Romans 8:18

The part of the Word of God that many believers don't want to hear are the sufferings of Christ. Everybody wants the glory but they don't want the pain.

There is no glory without a story. Apostle Paul told Timothy his spiritual son, if we suffer with Christ, we will also reign with Him, 2Timothy 2:12.

Many wants to ride the wheel of gold but not the wheel of fire. The two are inseparable if you want to do it Jesus's way. You can't take the Cross out of the glory of Jesus, infact it was the Cross that facilitated the glory.

It is satan that tells you, you don't have to go to the Cross to carry glory, you only have to bow to him and you will carry glory but that glory is death in disguise, it is at the expense of your soul.

It is like telling a student he doesn't have to read to pass his exams. The alternative will definitely involve sinning somewhere and somehow.

No death, no power of Resurrection. If it is the power of Resurrection we want, it doesn't come without death.

The earlier we know and accept this, the faster and smoother our walk with the Holy Spirit will be and our wilderness journey will end on time.

Jesus likened His sufferings to a woman in travail because a child is about to be born, but after that the child is born she forgets all the travails she went through because a child has been born. So also is our walk with the Lord.

Apostle Paul called all the trials, persecution and rejection we may have to suffer for Jesus's sake, light afflictions when compared with the glory that is to follow, 2Corinthians 4:17, Romans 8:18.

Nobody looks at a student in school and begins to cry for him because of the rigours of studying. We know at the end of six, five or four years, he will become a medical doctor, engineer or an accountant.

You may pity him a bit but not to the point of asking him to withdraw from his pursuit because you know he is becoming something great.

All the time he has to wake up at night to read and dip his feet in cold water, or put cold towel on his forehead just to stay awake is well worth it because he is going to become a lawyer very soon.

Likewise, nobody pities a pregnant woman so much as to tell her to throw her pregnancy away because of the inconveniences carrying the pregnancy is putting her through.

Everyone knows at the end of nine months she will be carrying a bundle of joy in her arms that will be well worth all the inconveniences of pregnancy.

The same thing applies in our walk with God, whatever we have to suffer is well worth it. No soldier goes to battle at his own charge(1Corinthians 9:7) and God has not called the house of Jacob to serve Him in vain, Isaiah. 45:9, Phillipians 2:8-11.

When we have this perspective nothing will be too much to bear.  Jesus told His disciples, "Verily verily I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice and ye shall be sorrowful but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow because her hour has come but as soon as she is delivered of the child she remembers no more the anguish for the joy that a man is born into the world.

And ye now therefore have sorrow but I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice and your joy no man taketh from you", John 16:20-22.

You can imagine the joy of the disciples when they saw that demons were subject to them, the sick were healed and the dead were raised back to life through their hands in the name of Jesus. All the sufferings they had to go through was well worth it when they saw the results.

Concerning Jesus the Bible says, "Who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame and He is set down at the right hand of the throne of God", Hebrews 12:2.

God disciplines the son He loves and there is no discipline that seems to be joyous at the moment it is being administered. Nevertheless, afterwards it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby, Hebrews 12:11.

I pray for everyone reading this message that the grace to persevere and not give up until we become all that God wants us to be will come upon us right now in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Moreover, the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be seven folds as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people and health the stroke of their wound, Isaiah 30:26.

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
