EXPOSITION FROM THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS

PART 4A - UNITY OF THE BODY 

Ephesians 4:1-16

The entire chapter is divided into two major parts. First is how to live together in unity within the body and secondly how to walk in holiness. 


Apostle Paul made us realize that there is an outward manifestation of righteousness that is expressed in outward  holiness which every believer is expected to walk in in order to maximize the benefit of their spiritual inheritance. 


Today by the help of the Holy Spirit we will examine how to dwell together and grow in unity and the bond of love within the body. 


He mentioned that we must be humble and meek, thinking more highly of others than ourselves, Ephesians 4:2


That we must learn to tolerate and forbear one another by learning to suffer long the inadequacies of others. He made mention of how that the unity within the body of Christ is maintained through the bond peace, Ephesians 4:3. 


So we must do everything to make sure we are at peace with others so as to keep that unity of the body.  


Peace is what binds us together in one spirit in the body. 


It is one spirit, one Lord, one father, one baptism that binds all of us together and we are all called to one hope which is the resurrection of the dead unto eternal life and the second coming of Christ. 


Anybody that has a belief and a hope that differs from this is not part of Christ's body.. It is the same Lord working in us all in the body, Ephesians 4:4 


However, despite that it is one body and one spirit and one baptism and one Father and one Lord and one God that is in us all, our calling differs likewise our measures, Ephesians 4:7. 


Grace is given to each one of us according to the measure of the gift of Christ and for this reason our callings in Christ differs likewise our measure. 


Apostle Paul made us realize that when Christ ascended certain things happened and one of those things that happened was that everything  that has held us captive became held in his captivity so we became free, Ephesians 4:8. 


Not only that, he showed us the process that led to Christ's ascension that he first of all had to go down to the grave, after which he now ascended and the same person that descended was also the one that ascended. 


Meaning that you are going through low seasons of life now does not mean you cannot rise to the highest heights. It also means that to ascend you must first descend even to the lower parts of the earth, Ephesians 4:9.


Christ descended first before could ascend and it was the same person that deacended to the lower parts of the earth that also aacended into the third heavens. 


Apostle Paul also made us realize that in Christ's ascension he gave gifts unto us, His body.


To His body, Jesus gave the gifts of Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Pastors and Evangelists. These are the ministries we call five fold in the body, Ephesians 4:9


In Christ's ascension, we can now access the different dimensions of our calling In Him, Ephesians 4:8


The purpose why Jesus gave this five fold ministry was first for the maturing of the saints to the end that they are able to do  the work of the ministry and secondly for the edifying of the body of Christ, Ephesians 4:12. 


The work of the five fold is to train the rest of the body on how to do the work of the ministry and also to grow and build the body till we all come into oneness of faith, and the full knowledge of of the son of God, unto a matured man and unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, Ephesians 4:13. 


When the five fold are able to accomplish their assignment, the end result will be that the body will be so full of light and perfect umferstanding that we will no longer be tossed to and fro by any and every kind of doctrine or the deceit of men and cunning craftiness that is lieing in wait to deceive us, Ephesians 4:14.


By speaking the truth in love to the body, not out of condemnation or jealousy or strife or vain glory, the body will grow up into Christ in all things, Ephesians 4:15. 


It is important that truth be communicated in love for it to be able to achieve its purpose. The Bible says by mercy and truth, iniquity is purged, Proverbs 16:6. 


We will recognize the deceit of men and every cunning craftiness lieing in wait to deceive us for what they are because we are men in our understanding and we are so full of light. 


Every member of the body is fitly joined and compacted together in Christ, who is the head of the church and we grow to the extent that we receive nourishment from what every of the joints in the body supplies in connection to the head. 


It is as each joint supply to the body what it receives from Christ who is the head of the church that the entire body increases unto the edifying of itself in love, Ephesians 4:16. 


Without receiving what each jointhas to supply the body cannot increase unto the edifying of itself in love.

Meanwhile, pray for yourself right where you are that God will give you a revelation of the Body of Christ so that you can maximize the blessings that He has kept in the body. Ask God to reveal to you your place in the body and to give you an encounter with the body of Christ in Jesus name.


SALVATION PRAYER


Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:


 Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour. 


Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

SPIRITUALLY AMBITIOUS OR A GOD SEEKER?
