SET GOD'S BEST AS THE STANDARD FOR YOUR LIFE.

ROMANS 12:2b

There are somethings in the Bible that are not God's best but He permitted it to happen because something went wrong with His original plan.

As we study the Bible we must ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to see those things that are His permissive will and the ones that are His perfect will. Always settle for God's best(perfect will) every time.

There were somethings that happened in the Bible that were not part of the original plan but God had to allow them as a restoration strategy.

Hosea marrying an harlot was not God's best, but He permitted it because of the disobedience of His people at that time, Hosea 1:2.

It was a prophetic picture that God was showing His people of their unfaithfulness to Him, Hosea 2.

Esther marrying an heathen king was not God's best, it directly violated His law(Exodus 34:12,15 &16), but He permitted it because of the disobedience of Saul(King Agag was the great great grand father of Haman) and the rebellion of God's people.

It was a restoration strategy to preserve the lives of God's people in a strange land, thus preserving His heritage, Esther 4:14.

There were battles that David fought that God never planned for him to fight even though he won all of them, 1Samuel 27:1-6.

We should not use the permissive will of God in the Bible to set a standard for our lives.

We should always search out what is God's perfect will and set it as the standard for our lives.

However there are times that something has gone wrong and it is no longer what God had in mind originally that has happened.

Because nothing gets spoilt in God's hand, He only fashions it into something else that is still beautiful, sometimes more beautiful than the original plan when we repent and surrender our lives to Jesus, Jeremiah 18:3-4.

At such times, God's restoration strategies in the Bible can be the standard for our lives, but where nothing has gone wrong, it is God's perfect will that we should set as standard and pursue.

As a single lady, in the prime of life, the standard that you are to set for yourself is the chastity of Mary the mother of Jesus not the one that was a prostitute  that Jesus delivered and restored, Luke 8:2, 7:37-38.

And for marriage, set the standard of Sarah and Abraham(1Peter 3:6) or Manoah and his wife (Judges 13:6-11)not Hosea and Gomah or Esther and the heathen king.

There are other things you can emulate in the lives of the former, like the submission of Sarah and Manoah's wife but not their childlessness.

As a single lady you have nothing to emulate from the childlessness of Sarah but so much to learn from her submission.

But for a waiting wife, you have so much to learn from Sarah's childlessness for many years, her patience, her mistakes and her faith in God.

When nothing has gone wrong, always align yourself with God's best, His perfect will.

Don't set the example of those living in God's restoration strategy as your standard that you will be looking up to, when nothing has gone wrong with your life.

There are other things in their lives that you can look up to, like the favour of Esther, the tolerance of Hosea but not their marriage.

As a man, it is not everything in the life of David, Abraham and Solomon that is worth emulating.

Don't start thinking if I marry many wives God will forgive me after all David married many wives and He is still a man after God's own earth.

Find out how heavily he paid for that sin. If there had been no Ishmael the world would have been more peaceful and a better place to live in.

We can make the Bible says what we want it to say to excuse our excesses but we will always pay dearly for it in the end.

Always settle for God's best, His perfect will not His permissive will.

However if something has gone wrong the stories of God restoration brings hope and becomes a standard we can set for ourselves to help us still attain to that which God wants us to be.

Also, those living in God's restoration strategy should be able to identify it as that and teach others that it is God's permissive will and not His perfect will.

Salvation is found in none else, for there is no name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved, except the name of Jesus.

You may be reading this post and you have not yet given your life to Jesus. This is another opportunity for you to make that decision for Jesus by saying this prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus, I love You with all my heart. I believe that You are the Son of God that died and shed His blood for my sins. Today, I receive Your life and I declare that I am Yours.

Congratulations you are now born again.

SALVATION PRAYER

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

PEACE
