FINDING CONTENTMENT IN WHO YOU ARE IN GOD
1Corinthians 7 :20
A wise christian should be more concerned about the end of the journey he is about to embark on than in the beginning.
The bible says there is a way that seemed right to man but the end there of is destruction, Proverbs 14:12.
The question is at what point did it seem right to man? It was at the beginning!
That it was right at the beginning does not mean it will still be right in the middle of the road or at the end of the journey.
The lesson there is that as a child of God, the end of a thing is better than the beginning there of, Psalm 37:37
The lesson there is also that before you embark on any journey as a child of God no matter how good and appealing it is always inquire to know from God what the end is.
That a journey is good does not mean it is safe, and in God's ideology preservation or safety is superior to comfort, Acts 27
Many embark on a good journey but only very few find out if it is a safe journey.
Whoever wishes you a good journey has not really done much to help you, it is he who wishes you a safe journey that truly loves you.
That a journey seems good or right does not mean it is safe. In God's ideology arrivals are more important than departures.
Many journey that feels good and perfect in the beginning many times does not have a safe ending.
God's journeys almost always will not have a very good or exciting beginning because it will demand that you walk by faith and not by sight, Job 8:7.
It will look small in the beginning, it will look foolish and most times despised in the beginning, 1Corinthians 1:18-21, 25-29.
Be wary of things that start big at the beginning, many times God is not in it, they are not safe and don't last.
However, there are journeys that start rough and still end in destruction, I pray that will not be our portion in Jesus name.
As good as results are, don't be moved by people's result, be moved by the voice of God. There are many ways to arrive at result which God may not be involved in.
Those that walk with God steadily always seem too slow in the eyes of people but they last long and have safe arrivals.
In God's programme there are people that He designed to burn furiously but there is nobody in God's design that burns furiously for a life time, it is only for a season or some seasons.
Some will burn furiously at the beginning, some at the tail end and some will only burn steadily from the beginning of their walk with Me to the end.
They will not be so famous like that, they may not even have results that are highly spectacular, but they will have consistent results of steady impact over a very long period of years.
There may never be any time in their history where they will burn furiously doing very spectacular things for God.
The more furiously the more the attacks from hell and there is only so much a man can take. So preservation is to only let them burn furiously for a while to preserve them.
Yet, there are some that while the devil is busy concentrating his effort on the ones burning furiously he barely notice them because their results are not so spectacular and attractive yet they are making tremendous impact changing lives and transforming souls.
Look at Baba Gbenro in the popular movie ABBATOIR, he burned steadily and burnt for so long and God used him to change many lives.
People like that are called the hidden ones, the 7000 in the custody of Obadiah, 1Kings 19:18. People like Ananias of Damascus, Epaphras of Colosse and Anna the prophetess.
They are not popular or famous yet they are very pivotal in God's programme.
The best thing is to find out how God had decided to use you and coperate with Him.
Some of our prayers are just out of alignment with the will of God for our lives and He will not answer them.
If it was never in God's plan for your life to be like AJS, if you like pray and fast from now till next year it will not be answered.
And it is also a great mistake on the part of men and women of God to make their experience with God a yardstick for success for others.
Not everybody will be as popular as you are or as unpopular as you are and that doesn't mean they are not successful.
Success is judged from the stand point of God relative to what He called you to do, not according to what another person is doing.
So another man or woman of God cannot and should not be the yardstick for judging whether you are successful or not.
God doesn't deal with us the same way, there are some uniqueness to every dealing of God relative to the assignment and calling of each believer.
So you can't make your dealings with God the standard for others.
Success is relative to what God has called you to do. You can be successful as a mother and wife or be successful as a business woman.
If each of these try to use the others success to judge and determine their own success they will be missing it big time and inflict on themselves many unneccesary pain and sorrow.
As simple as this looks it is not easy to accept in the kind of world that we are living in today.
Only the ones with ministry marked with spectacular results are regarded as successful while the rests are regarded as failures first by the world and sadly also by fellow believers.
The day you try to imbibe this into your mindset is the day you will stop trying to make impression on others.
Even some prayer points will never come out of your mouth again. That is the day you have found contentment with yourself with your destiny in God and with men.
Whatever anyone say or how they perceive what you are doing will no longer matter.
Your only mantra will be lo I come in the volume of the book as it is written of me to thy will O God, Hebrews 10:7
You will no longer want or desire to look like another in destiny, you will just desire to look exaclty like what God had made you to be.
It is the day you will find your own uniqueness and it will not matter what others think or how they feel about it.
What I have just described doesn't just happen overnight, it is a journey. It takes time.
I call it finding contentment in your own uniqueness and in who God says you are and not in who others are or expect you to be.
My question to you this morning is, have you found contentment in whom God has called you to be or are you still aspiring and wishing that your life and destiny be like that of another?
You may be in ministry and still be in the rat race. Being in mnistry does not cure you from being in the rat race, it will rather serve to enhance it if care is not taken.
The only cure is to know who you are in God's plan and programs, accept it and love it,1Corinthians.7:20.
It is not until you be as famous as another person that you can make impact. Make impact at your level and let God scale you higher steadily.
Don't listen to the opinion of men as regards how popular you should be to make impact, treat it only as market noise.
True and lasting impact is not measured by how famous or renown you are but by how much of God's will for your life you are aligned with.
Be wary of messages that though Christian pushes you back into the rat race, chasing shadows that you will never catch up with.
Be content with such things as you have for He has said He will never leave you nor forsake you, Hebrews 13:5.
PRAYER: FATHER, HELP ME TO ACCEPT AND REMAIN IN MY CALLING AND FULFIL ALL THAT YOU HAVE CALLED ME TO DO IN JESUS NAME. DELIVER ME FROM RAT RACE BOTH IN LIFE AND IN DESTINY.
PEACE
SALVATION PRAYER
Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:
Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.
Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
PEACE
