WORSHIPPING FROM AFAR

PART TWO

This message is a continuation of my last post. I will advise that you read the last post if you have not.

Moses, Joshua, Aaron, the seventy elders and the rest of the Israelites were all at different level of closeness to God. The more they drew near, the more they saw of His glory.

So they all have different perspective in describing what the glory of God looks like by what they saw which was determined by the distance they stood to worship.

What Moses saw was different from what the 70 elders saw and what Joshua saw was different from what the children of Israel that worship from the door of their tents saw.

By not coming near enough their perspective of God was distorted, they prefer to know God through Moses and the Bible says there still remain a veil in their heart anytime Moses is read, 2Corinthians 3:15.

Moses still had to cover his face with a veil when they complained that his face was too shinning for them to behold. They could not stand the burning fire, now again they could not stand the shinning face of Moses.

Have we not be doing the same thing anytime God calls us to draw near and begin to give us the condition for drawing near. Wash your clothes, abstain from this and that....e.t.c.

When we say the preaching on holiness is too much, this preaching on repentance makes one sad, we are doing the same thing.  We are asking the man of God to tone it down a little, put a veil on it, we say.

We don't like to hear messages on holiness and repentance but we love to receive prophecy and hear messages on God's love and blessings.

As good as those messages are, they don't help you draw near to know the Lord and be intimate with Him. You will only know His acts but not His ways, Psalm 103:7.

For the Bible says Holiness is the requirement to see the Lord, Hebrews 12:14. It is the pure in heart that will see the Lord, Matthew 5:8.

You want to draw closer to God? Not with  bitterness in your heart, not with grudges, not with offences, not with unforgiveness not with hatred, covetousness, envy in your heart.

Those are some of the purging God will require some of us to go through. As long as you want to hold unto those things in your heart, you will only be able to worship from afar off.

The Bible says The sinners in Zion are afraid, fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire?

Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burning? He that walketh righteously and speaketh uprightly, he that despiseth the gain of oppression, that shaketh his hands from holding if bribes, that stoppeth his hears from hearing of blood and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil, Isaiah 33:14&15. That passage looks exactly like Psalms 24:4 and Psalm 15:2.

The standard of the Lord remain the same and does not change. I know you are born again but the Lord says there are sinners in Zion, Isaiah 33:14a.

You may not be stealing or fornicating but what about unforgiveness and bitterness? What about holding grudges, hatred, envy and covetousness?

All those things are impurities in your heart that does not  make you to draw near and see the Lord. The promise to see the Lord is for the pure in heart, Matthew 5:8.

The bible says, "Looking diligently lest any man fall of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and there many be defiled. Lest there be any fornicator or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright", Hebrews 12:15-16.

The Bible says blessed is the man whom thou chosest and cause to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in the courts, we shall be satisfied with the goodness of the house, even of thy holy temple, Psalms 65:4.

There is a goodness in the court of God, that is reserved for those that will pay the price to purge themselves and draw near.

You may be rejected and denied some things, you may miss some opportunities because of your resolve to draw near to God but the Lord said there is a goodness of His house that those that draw near to dwell in his courts shall be satisfied with.

It is specially kept and reserved for them. The Lord says He will be the God of their salvation and He will answer them by terrible things in righteousness, Psalm 65:5.

At this point I want you to turn to the Lord and ask Him to search your heart. Ask the Lord to purge your heart of any impurity that can stop you from drawing near to worship.

SALVATION PRAYER

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

PEACE
