SHUN SIN

ROMANS 6:23

The pleasure of sin is only for a season, afterwards it leaves behind a trail of death in the life of the sinner that he or she will be battling with for the rest of His life if Jesus does not step in.

Sometimes, even after Jesus has stepped  in, some things are still unredeemable but can only be managed. The entire human race and the earth is still suffering from the consequences of Adam's sin till today.

Romans 6:23 says, " The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". The more engrossed we are in sin the more our lives get complicated.

Fornication may look sweet at the moment it is being done, but what of the complications of unwanted pregnancy, unwanted babies, abortion, damaged womb and barreness that it leaves behind.

Above all that, it cuts you off from God and has griveous spiritual implications than all the physical consequences.

Telling one single lie can get one so entangled that one has to keep on telling lies for the rest of one's life to cover up for that one lie.

Adultery looks like  the in thing now but it has scattered many homes, caused so many heartbreaks, separation, bitterness and hatred.

But thank God for Jesus, with Him there is plentious redemption and He saves to the uttermost!

If we sit down and trace it back, a lot of the complications around our lives came from one sin we engaged in at one time or the other.

The only pleasure sin has to offer is just at that moment when you are committing it, afterwards it is death, death, death and more death.

One major thing that light does is that it exposes darkness, that is why often times when an individual just gives his life to Jesus, it always appear as if his life becomes more complicated.

It is so because light has come and once light comes, everything hidden in the dark becomes exposed and dealt with one after the other.

In Christ, one's life get simpler and simpler but living in sin makes one's life more and more complicated.

People that live in sin live in constant fear and in bondage. They are not free. True liberty can only be found in Jesus, Hebrews 2:14&15.

Sin only gives temporary enjoyment and relief but puts people in perpertual fear and bondage. Sin torments the sinner.

If you are stealing money from your boss, even though that stolen money looks sweet when you are spending it but there is this fear in the corner of your heart that always torments you. You can't sleep with your two eyes closed.

Fear of being caught, the disgrace and punishment that will follow. In a bid to avoid that, you plunge deeper into sin in an attempt to secure and fortify yourself from being caught and end up being more entangled and miserable.

If you are having an illicit affair with another man's husband or wife your heart skips anytime you see the wife or husband of that person, regardless of whether he knows or not. That alarm just goes off in you, provided your conscience has not been seared with hot iron.

If you go out you are not sure whether you will return safely because of your evil deeds. Your hands are not clean, so you are constantly watching your back for possible attacks from anywhere. It is a miserable lifestyle.

This is why many believers at the onset of their journey with God it appears things just got worse than it was when they were in the world. Because the light of God will keep on exposing everything that is not of Him in the life of the new believer.

After I gave my life to Jesus the Holy Spirit instructed me to make some confession to my Pastor. It was difficult but I did it by His grace.

I felt ashamed physically but my spirit was at liberty to serve the Lord. I enjoyed sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The joy in my heart knew no bounds, I was truly free.

Know it today, that though going by what you can see, it looks like you were better off while in the world, what you can not see is the new building that God is erecting on the ruins of the old, Jeremiah 30:18.

If you can be patient with God, all those issues will be dealt with one by one and afterwards your life will become simpler because now it has only one focus, which is living to please God, 2Corinthians 5:15..

One thing the devil does is to blind the eyes of an unbeliever to see the truth about himself, 2Corinthians 4:4, Ephesians 4:18.

Even in his pitiable condition, an unbeliever will esteem himself better than a Christian who has chosen to suffer reproach with Christ than to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season, Hebrews 11:24-26.

What he does not know is that whether a believer or an unbeliever the devil does not like anybody, only God loves the world and gave His only begotten Son to die for all men, believers and unbelievers alike, John 3:16.

The devil uses humans to do his dirty work but not without leaving his imprint on them. By this I mean He uses man to afflict his fellow man consciously or unconsciously, Matthew 2:16, Exodus 1:16&22.

Just the same way God uses man to bring about the salvation of his fellow men, Hosea 12:13.

When God uses a man He leaves His mark on that man, which is the mark of life, Isaiah 27:2.

Likewise, the devil also leaves his mark too which is the mark of death, Proverbs 1:10-19.

We will do well to examine our lives to see who is using us to achieve his purpose consciously or unconsciously.

SALVATION PRAYER

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

PEACE
