SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS

ROMANS 6:18-23



How serious are you in your walk with God? 


This morning I will be sharing with us one major way to evaluate your seriousness with the Lord. 


The hall mark of a Christian that is serious in his walk with the Lord is that he has become a slave to righteousness. 


How will you know that you have become slaves to righteousness? When you have yielded your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 


When you become a slave to righteousness you can't but be full of God. You are completely sold out to God and His agenda. 


The end result is that you begin to bring forth fruit unto holiness and the end is everlasting life, Romans 6:22.


Your mouth, eyes, ears, hands, feet, legs and your mind have been surrendered to the Lord. 


No pastor or discipler can do this for you, it  is an act of your will. Romans 6:13 says Neither yield ye your members as instrument of unrighteousness unto sin but yield yourself unto God.....


That statement is a statement of responsibility, it is telling us what we must now do after that we have been saved. It is working out your own salvation with fear and trembling, Phillipians 2:12.


Romans 8:5, says, for they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the spirit the things of the spirit.  What is your mind full of? 


The members of our body can be divided into two:


1) The receiving members

2) The executing members.

Both must be yielded to the Lord.


The receiving members are majorly our eyes, ears, mouth and our mind. The executing members are our mouth, hands, legs, mind, memory and mouth. 


Both the mouth and mind are receiving and executing members and as such we should pay serious attention to them. 


Let me ask us, what have you been doing with your members? What did the Bible says we should do with our members now that we are saved. Let's go to the scriptures. 


Romans 6:19 says, " I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness". 


You can't be born again and be watching what you were still watching when you were an unbeliever and expect that you will be full of God. 


You can't be born again and still be moving with your old sinner friends and be serious in your walk with God. 


You can't be born again and be listening to the same wordly music, gossips and slander and reading the same kinds of erotic and sensual novels that you used to listen to and read when you were in the world and expect that you will grow in your walk with God and be full of Him. 


This is why many of us even though we are born again we are not growing in our walk with God. 


Salvation is free but you have to take responsibility for your spiritual growth.  


All these things have to change. It is a  deliberate and intentional step we must take if we want to grow in our walk with God. The Bible says what agreement does light have with darkness, 2Corinthians 6:14.


I will continue from here in my next post to show us how some of our fathers of faith grew in their relationship with God by yielding their  members unto God as instruments of righteousness and those that did not too and the outcomes of their lives.


I pray the grace to be a doer of this word will rest upon every hearer in the name of Jesus. 

This is a message for doing and not a message for just reading.


Purpose in your heart today that you will become a slave to righteousness by consciously yielding your members to the Lord as instruments of righteousness. 


Delete the wordly music and replace with worship songs, change your relationship, change what you watch, change what you read and listen to. Replace it with things that will help you grow in your walk with God. 


Lastly, make known publicly to people that you now belong to JESUS, identify with Him, Mark 8:38. Ask God for grace.


SALVATION PRAYER


Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:


 Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour. 


Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

SPIRITUALLY AMBITIOUS OR A GOD SEEKER? PSALM 24:6 Just as one can be ambitious physically, one can also be ambitious spiritually too.  Sometime ago, I listened to a preacher and he mentioned the number of hours he spent praying and I was challenged.  Right in that meeting I made up my mind to jack up my prayer life and I set it as a goal.
