WHO MUST SEE YOUR FAITH?
Hebrews 11:1
Acts of faith can be easily misunderstood or misinterpreted by men because faith is not an earthly currency.
Just as money is a means of making purchase on earth, faith is a means of making purchase in heaven, Hebrews 11:6.
A lot of times, in exercising faith men have misinterpreted it in different ways and because of this we must be very careful of the opinions of men when exercising our faith .
The Syro-phoenician woman's faith was misinterpreted as a beggarly attitude even by Jesus's disciples but Jesus called it great faith, Matthew 15:21-28.
Whoever heard the Centurion told Jesus not to come again to his house but only speak a word could easily misinterpret it as pride or something else but Jesus said it is great faith, that he understood authority, Matthew 8:5-10 .
Your faith is between you and God who is the performer not any man. Faith is acting on something you believe, something you know which others may or may not believe or know.
So if you allow men interprete your actions for you, you will lose your faith and miss the blessing.
If the devil could not succeed in attacking your faith directly in your mind, the next thing is to use men to do it.
Anyone among the crowd who saw the woman with the issue of blood press and push people to get to Jesus would call her attitude disordely but Jesus called it faith, Luke 8:43-48.
Her faith was for Jesus to see not men. The friends of the man with palsy would be called destructive because they had to remove the roof to bring their friend to see Jesus.
The cost of mending that roof and the opinion of men were too small a price to pay when compared with what they were about to receive, they did not for one second think they wouldn't receive and Jesus honoured their faith, Mark 2:3-5. (Please note this, God tests the faith of disciples but he honours the faith of believers)
Blind Bartimaeus's shout was a disturbance in the ears of the people, they called it noise and even tried to shut him up but he was not discouraged by the opinions of men about what he was doing, he continued until he got Jesus's attention and received his healing, Mark 10:46-52.
One funny thing about men is this; when you are acting out your faith they call it all kinds of things, it is only after you have gotten the result that they acknowledge it as faith.
Come to think of what the boldness of David would have meant to different people on the battle field that day.
His brother called it pride. Many would have agreed with him that it was purely pride, 1Samuel 17:28.
To others it was disobedience, once he delivered the errand his father sent him, he should have gone back to keeping the sheep as a child that is well brought up.
To others, they saw a young boy poking his nose into adult affairs. To Saul, he could have interpreted his rejecting his armour as pure arrogance.
The women that later sang his praise would have secretly celebrated his funeral in their mind as they saw him approached Goliath.
Some would even had rushed to call his mother to come and talk some sense into his son who was about to die.
His faith displayed that day by his boldness looked like foolishness to a lot of people.
But after he had brought the head of Goliath down, everybody forgot about their opinions and began to celebrate him, 1Samuel 18:6-7.
The women that had mourned for him secretly and openly were the very ones that sang and danced round town that David killed tens of thousands.
It was after he won the victory that they acknowledge it was faith. That is the way men are.
If it had turned out the other way too, they would have said we warned him but he didn't listen.
It is only God that starts celebrating your victory the very moment you stepped out in faith when you have not yet had any result. Men wait until you have result before they start celebrating you.
The princes of Succoth did not give Gideon and his army bread when they were still pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna.
The question they asked him was where is the head of Zelba and Zalmunna? Judges 8:4-7.
Men will not give you bread when you are still pursuing your Zelba and Zalmunna, some may even say to you like Nabal said to David, "Many slaves are running away from their masters these days".
But they will beg you to accept their bread when you have the heads of Zelba and Zalmunna or Goliath in your hand. It is just the nature of men.
We must be very careful of the responses of men when we are acting out our faith. Your faith is meant for God to see, He is the performer.
Men will only call what you did great faith when you have results to show but until then your acts of faith will look like foolishness to them.
Thank God that He honours faith; if not, men's predictions would have been true.
Faith is God's wisdom, God's currency and God's wisdom is foolishness unto men. So, who really needs to see your faith? God or men?
SALVATION PRAYER
Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:
Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.
Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
PEACE
