TIME MANAGEMENT AS RELATING TO PURPOSE FULFILMENT

HAGGAI 1:8

If you are going to fulfil your purpose and be all that God wants you to be, learning to manage your time well is non-negotiable.

Some things are good and very productive but as regards your purpose they constitute distraction and waste your time.

If you have found purpose you will benefit more from this message but if you have not, this message is coming to equip you ahead. So either way you will still benefit from this message.

There are things in line with your purpose that when you engage your time in, they strengthen your purpose.

Also, there are other things that even though they are noble and worthwhile but engaging in them weakens your purpose and can cause you to completely veer off or eat into your time so much that your purpose suffers.

Believe me, you can be strengthened in your purpose. You can be made strong in your purpose when you find the things that align to your purpose and you begin to do them.

They may not necessarily be something spiritual only they may be secular things but they strengthen you in your purpose.

The bible says go to the mountain and bring me wood and build my house and I will take pleasure in it and I will be glorified saith the Lord, Haggai 1:8

Wood is symbolic of flesh scripturally and can be consumed by fire.

Anytime God is building, whether it is the ark of Noah or Solomon's temple wood is required but it is coated with gold or pitch to protect it.

In fulfilling your purpose some things constitute wood (not spiritual) but are highly needed to strengthen you to fulfil your purpose.

Take for example, God is calling you into a youth ministry, a job that affords you the opportunity to meet with a lot of youth will strengthen your purpose than a job that is high paying but locks you away in a secluded office out of civilization.

All these things must be considered in your choice of job. Infact your purpose should be what determines the kind of job you can take not the pay.

Some skills though secular will strengthen you in your purpose and make you more established in it.

Early last year the Lord led me to learn graphics and video creation.

Everywhere i turn to all I see was advert to learn graphics and video creation. At first I considered it a distraction from my spiritual activities. However, I decided to give it a try.

Hardly did I know that in the middle of the year the ministry will be going public. I thought I was learning it to make money and for fun but God has a purpose in mind.

That skill has strengthened my purpose and gave the messages God gave to me expression like nothing else.

At the time I was learning it I felt I was outside the will of God because it was not something spiritual; but no, I was going to the mountain to bring wood and build his house and He takes pleasure in it and He is glorified.

You may have to learn something from both believers and unbelievers alike this new year to further establish you in your purpose, don't despise it because it is not something spiritual so to say.

There may be purpose in it and spending your time on it is not wasting it. It is not a distraction.

I remember whenever I am making videos for the ministry, I would feel so uncomfortable that I should be giving myself continually to prayer and study of the Word instead, Acts 6:4

But the Lord would correct me and say you are building structure for the ministry.

It is not the day you start that you will find others to join you to do some things. In the beginning you may find out you are all in one person, 1Chronicles 12:22, Numbers 11:14, Exodus 18:13.

You are the preacher, the choir, the intercessor, the cleaner, the janitor, the writer, the designer as well as content creator all by yourself. It is called building capacity.

It is your seriousness and comittment that will compel others to join you, 1Chronicles 29:2-9

Then after some time the Lord begins to bring people that will take the burden off you, 1Peter 5:10

Even though combining everything together comes with a lot of pressure and I almost felt like giving up, I built capacity.

However, the Lord assured me that it is the pressure that comes with progress that I should continue, that with time, I would strike a balance which I did to His glory.

It was at that time the Lord gave me the revelation of Himself as a sun and a shield, that He gives both grace and glory Psalm 84:11

So, this year identify those things that the Lord will be leading you to do that may not necessarily be spiritual but will strengthen you in your purpose.

It will amount to good time mamagement as far as your purpose is concerned. It may be going back to scool, acquiring a skill, starting a business, travelling abroad e.t.c

Also identify those things that are noble but will weaken you in your purpose, 2Chronicles 20:35-37, 1kings 11:1-4

King Jehoshaphat going with King Ahab to battle was noble but it nearly got him killed, 2Chronicles 18, 19:2

Travelling abroad may be good but what effect will that decision have on your purpose?

Will it afford you the opportunity to continue serving and loving God or it will water down your spiritual life to zero?

Changing your job may not be a bad idea afterall, but what effect will it have on your purpose?

Getting more certificates is noble but what effect will it have on your purpose?

Having more children may not necessarily be a bad idea but what effect will it have on your purpose?

This year let purpose lead, not money or convenience or comfort.

Starting a business with what I have learnt will weaken me in my purpose and constitute a distraction.

But for some of you that is exactly what God wants you to do, to start a business with what you are going to learn this year, to have one more child, to go back to school and get more degrees, to travel out of the country.

Doing them will strengthen you in your purpose.

If I had started a business that time there would not have been FOLWAMS today. Because it was about that time that the ministry was also taking off.

Not until then did I understood my watchword for 2022 being my year of total obedience.

Be careful to make sure that whatever secular thing you are learning does not take you off your purpose completely because they have the power to do just that, 2Kings 16:10-18.

What God purposed to use to strengthen you can also distract you if not brought under His control and influence, 2Samuel 11:1-4, 1Kings 11:9&10.

Remember the wood must be coated with gold and also with pitch to preserve it, 1Kings 6:21&22, Genesis 6:14.

I pray for you that the Lord will preserve you in His purpose, you and I will not veer off in Jesus name.

Go to the mountain and get me wood and BUILD MY HOUSE (not your own house) and I will take pleasure in it and I will be glorified, saith the Lord, Haggai 1:8

PRAYER: Ask the Lord the things you need to do this year that will strengthen you in your purpose and receive the grace to be able to do them in Jesus name.

SALVATION PRAYER

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
