THE OUT WORKINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Phillipians 2:13.

This morning by the help of the Holy Spirit, I will be sharing with us something powerful that will bless us in no small way and change our lives forever.

One of the realities of the new life is that there is the person of the Holy Spirit now living in us. Apostle Paul said it is no longer I that live but Christ liveth in me, Galatians 2:20.

What I want to bring us into the awareness through this teaching is that Christ lives in you represented by the person of the Holy Spirit.

This Holy Spirit has a life of His own , His own intelligence, His own emotions, His own way of doing things and it is this life of the Holy Spirit that is expressed through us that is the out workings of the Holy Spirit, 1Corinthians 2:10-16.

At every stage of your walk with God there is something that the Holy Spirit is doing and we must not be ignorant of His out workings in our lives. Our text says it is God that worketh in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure, Phillipians 2:13.

For quite sometime in my walk with God I didn't understand why sometimes I have this strong pull to do some things.

At first, I thought I was the one doing those things, I tried to change it but I had this strong pull to not stop but continue. Not until much later did I realize it was the outworkings of the Holy Spirit in me.

The Holy Spirit in every believer is alive and by this I mean He is not a routine personality. Please permit my grammar I don't know how to express it better.

What do I mean? There are times that you get to your secret place and what you want to do is pray, study the word and do a bit of worship but as you woke up, a line of song came to your spirit and you yielded and kept repeating that line of song.

You thought it will finish by the time you repeat it two or three times but it started getting stronger and stronger and before you know it, what started as a line of a song became streams of worship and later a river of worship and you ended up spending the entire 2hrs of quiet time worshipping God.

That is the Holy Spirit working out His will and His good pleasure in you.

There are times that you just had this urge to download messages and you are listening and listening and it seems all you can do is just listen to messages you don't want to do any other thing.

You tried to pray, it is not working, you try to study the word it is not opening up to you.

The only time you get revelations is when you listen to those messages and study the scriptures as they are coming from those messages.

You know there are times that the Holy Spirit asks you to study the books of a particular man of God and when that obedience is complete you receive an impartation from that man in visions and dreams.

You may not even know that anything had taken place until sometime much later, after you have finished reading those books you realized that the spirit of fear that used to plague you is no longer there.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of every stronghold, 2Corinthians 10:4. It is God's recommended solution that works not what we think should work.

All these things are the outworkings of the Holy Spirit in us and if we are ignorant of them we will quench the Holy Spirit.

In order to maximize what the Holy Spirit is doing we must recognize these things for what they are and embrace them.

There are things that we have been doing before but somehow we let them slip and the Lord wants to bring back to us.

Let's say for example, worship. Could be that all you have been doing for quite some time is studying and praying but you have lost a vital key somewhere along the line. You used to do it before but it just slipped, Hebrews 2:1&3.

You can be sensing an unusual urge to download and listen to worship. You can find yourself writing songs down and learning it line by line even though you are not in the choir.

For two weeks that is the bulk of what you are doing, learning new songs and you are beginning to think you are backslidding.

Many times when these things begin to happen to us we call it backslidding and go back to the routine thus we quench the Spirit of God, 1Thessalonians 5:19.

He is trying to restore the heart of worship back to you. Could be that is the ladder you need to climb to your next level joys.

Some of these things are to usher us into new seasons in our lives but we neglect them to our own detriment.

You can be sensing an unusual urge for prayer at a particular time of the day for three days.

Atimes it is just a strong urge to give and give. Sometimes it could just be one month of intensive Word feast. You want to pray but scriptures upon scriptures keep opening up to you and you just keep seeing things that you have never seen before.

At other times it could be intense warfare prayer that continued for days. There could be times that you just feel the garment of praise literarily being put on you.

Each time you want to think about the problem, that garment just comes on you and instead of complaining and crying you sang praises and danced for 1hr and people around you begin to wonder what is going on and it kept happening like that for a whole week or month.

When you begin to see these things know that something is happening in the realm of the spirit and yield yourself by cooperating with what the Holy Spirit is doing.

We are not religious people we are spiritual people. We are not a people given to routine, we are a people led by the Holy Spirit, Romans 8:14.

All these things are the outworkings of the Spirit of God in us. If you are born again you are no longer natural but supernatural and you must be sensitive to these things in your life as the Holy Spirit brings them.

This is how we walk in cheap victory and change situations in our lives. This is how God always cause us to triumph in Christ, 2Corinthians 2:14.

This is how we bring the head of Goliath down, not with bows and arrows but with seemingly weak sling shot and smooth stones in the name of the LORD

We must not be ignorant of these things but walk hand in hand with our helper, the Holy Spirit, who is always ready to take hold together with us against any and everything that may be coming against us, Romans 8:26.

Now you will pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the areas where you have been quenching His Spirit and ask Him to bring back those things you have allowed to slip out of your ignorance to His outworkings in your life.

SALVATION PRAYER

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!
