SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS

PART 2

ROMANS 6:18-23


Now, let's examine how some of our Fathers of faith yielded their members unto God as instrument of righteousness in the scriptures and their end result as well as those that did not and the fruit that came from their lives, Isaiah 51:1&2.


Job said, I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? Job 31:1. David in Psalm 101:3 says "I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of them that turn aside, it shall not cleave to me". 


Daniel 1:8 says but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings meat nor with the wine which he drank. 


The believers after the ascension of Jesus continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine, and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers, Acts 2:42. 


Daniel prayed three times daily, Daniel 6:10. David worshiped God seven times a day, Psalm 119:164 and prayed three times a day too, Psalm 55:17.  


Apostle Paul in Colossians 3:1&2 says, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ siteth on the right hand of God. Set your affections on things above not on things on the earth". 


One of the questions people ask is that if they set their hearts on things above they will be of no earthly use. It is a big lie! 


We are called to live out the Cross life. None of those men mentioned in the scriptures above was a mere man on earth. 


They lived the cross, that is living horizontally to bring divine revelations from heaven and then living vertically to spread those revelations as solutions to human problems on earth. 


Being heavenly minded does not make you lose your earthly relevance rather it makes you more earthly relevant, 1Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4, Isaiah 30:18.


The Bible says, "For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come", 1Timothy 4:8.


Ask Daniel, ask Joseph, ask David, ask Isaac,  ask the Apostles and the rest. They were all men of great earthly relevance. 


Nothing can be compared to living from heaven to Earth. We are called to a supernatural life not an ordinary life. 


One business idea received from God and correctly interpreted and executed will out run the chariots of earthly kings even on foot because the hand of the Lord is upon it, Deuteronomy 11:10-17. 


It is just that you don't receive such ideas by passing a quick visit to the Lord, it comes from history of years of fellowship and intimacy with the Lord that does not even has those kinds of benefit as the basis for it in the first place. 


This is where most of us miss it, we want to pay the Lord a quick visit and get a billion dollar worth of revelation in 30minutes of fellowship, in just six months of relationship. Just like an ATM machine! It doesn't work that way. 


Dinah the only  daughter of Jacob went out to SEE the daughters of the land even though she was a covenant carrier, she ended up getting defiled and nothing was heard about her again in the purpose and agenda of God throughout the bible, Genesis 34:1&2


Another example of a man that was righteous but chose to set his affection on the things of the earth was  Lot. 


2Peter 2:7&8 says Righteous lot was vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked, for that righteous man in dwelling among them, IN SEEING AND HEARING, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds. 


When the righteous stand in the way of sinners they end up producing results of sinners but when the ungodly imbibe the way of the righteous and their life styles they end up getting blessed and becoming a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light.


This is clearly demonstrated in the lives of women like Rahab, Ruth, the Syro-phoenician woman, the Centurion, Cornelius e.t.c Isaiah 56:3-8, Numbers 10:29.


God wants us to be sanctified wholly, spirit soul and body, not just our spirits alone, 1Thessalonians 5:23. 


Jesus our Lord and example yielded Himself  totally to God, spirit, soul and body. The Bible records it as "A body has thou prepared for Me", Hebrews 10:5. 


Don't be content with just giving God your services, tithes, offerings and special seeds alone, He is asking you to give to Him the members of your body (Eyes, ears, mouth, nose, womb, hands, mind, legs e.t.c) as well.


Here comes the question again, what have you set your affections on? How yielded are the members of your body unto the Lord?


Whoever you yield your members to obey you are the servant of such, either of sin unto unrighteousness and death or of righteousness unto fruits of holiness and everlasting life, Romans 6:16.


I pray the grace to be a doer of this word will rest upon every hearer in the name of Jesus. 

This is a message for doing and not a message for just reading.


Purpose in your heart today that you will become a slave to righteousness by consciously yielding your members to the Lord as instruments of righteousness. 


Delete the wordly music and replace with worship songs, change your relationship, change what you watch, change what you read and listen to. Replace it with things that will help you grow in your walk with God. 


Lastly, make known publicly to people that you now belong to JESUS, identify with Him, Mark 8:38. Ask God for grace.


It is well with us in Jesus name.


SALVATION PRAYER


Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:


 Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour. 


Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

SPIRITUALLY AMBITIOUS OR A GOD SEEKER? PSALM 24:6 Just as one can be ambitious physically, one can also be ambitious spiritually too.  Sometime ago, I listened to a preacher and he mentioned the number of hours he spent praying and I was challenged.  Right in that meeting I made up my mind to jack up my prayer life and I set it as a goal. Immediately after I left the place I began to work at my new goal and was I able to meet up my new goal?
