LESSONS FROM THE SHIPWRECK

PART TWO

Acts 27&28

This morning we shall continue from where we stopped on the lessons from the shipwreck.

Another major lesson to be learnt is that a spiritual man is not the mate of an expert in any field of endeavour, Acts 27:9

Paul was a spiritual man that has seen into the future, but the captain of the ship decided to sail based on the advise of experts, interest of the owner of the ship and what the weather looks like physically, Acts 27:10&11

What this means is that if you have a spiritual.lead on any matter go with it and let it lead but where there are no spiritual lead, go with the advice of experts.

One lesson again to learn from the shipwreck is that we should not discountenance people because they are of lower status, they could be the very reason why we shall be saved from trouble.

Paul was a prisoner and not much attention was paid to his words until they saw the consequences of their disobedience to his counsel not to sail, Acts 27:10-11.

The lesson that really strike me the most is that the salvation of a whole ship can be tied to the presence of just one man, Isaiah  32:2.

The sailors tried to abandon the ship and save their own lives through the few life boats that were available but Paul told them the only way they would be saved is to remain in the ship with Him, Acts 27:30-31

The word God gave was first to Paul and then that particular ship and as many as are with hin in th

at particular ship.

The sailors had no assuarance from God of their salvation. The only way they could be saved was to stay with the man that had such assuarance from God, Acts 27:23-26.

One very important lesson from the ship wreck is that sometimes God's concern is to save the people but the ship that they are in will be lost in the process, Acts 27:22.

This is huge, because sometimes what we are fighting for is to save the marriage, safe the business or the career but then God may only be interested in saving the lives of those involved first.

Knowing fully well that a new ship will be provided to take them to safe landing, Acts 28: 11. It could be a new marriage, a new job, a new business, a new house, a new location e.t.c.

There are times that God doesn't want to repair or restore the old, He wants to do a new thing, Isaiah 43:19.

Another important lesson is that in certain life situations, we may have to sacrifice our comfort to preserve our lives.

Sometimes what God is doing in our lives is not comfortable for us but it will preserve our lives.

The people on board the ship had to throw away their personal belongings  and food just to preserve the ship from sinking, Acts 27:18&19

The final lesson here is that it takes a man that is encouraged by the Lord to encourage others in very daring life situations, Acts 27:33-36.

The last person that should be encouraging others was Apostle Paul considering his condition and all he has been through, but he could do that because the Lord has encouraged and comforted him, Acts 27:21-25.

Nothing can be compared to the comfort and consolation of the Lord and everyone should seek to have it (2Corinthians 1:3), not only the comfort of men, Job 16:2.

PRAYER: FATHER HELP ME TO KEEP MY GAZE ON YOU AT ALL TIMES, NO MATTER HOW BOISTEROUS THE WIND AROUND ME IS IN JESUS NAME.

SALVATION PRAYER

Anything short of you being born again and living a life of holiness and purity hurt Jesus so much. But you can make things right here and now by saying this simple prayer and mean it genuinely from your heart:

Lord Jesus I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I cannot help myself. I repent of all my sins and I forsake them. Jesus, I invite you into my life, be my Lord, be my Saviour.

Wash me by your precious blood, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life. From this day, I promise to follow you all the rest of my life. Help me Lord, in Jesus name, Amen. Congratulations you are now born again!

PEACE
